Xiamen

All my photos for Kunming and Guangzhou are not with me yet so I shall start with Xiamen. Xiamen was the 3rd stop and it is the place where the weather and food is most similar to Singapore. Kunming was cool, breezy and even cold but the pace of life is rather slow by my standards. Guangzhou's weather was alright and is the most vibrant of the 4 cities that we visited but in its progress to such vibrancy, it might have been tinted with some form of chaos.

Most people in Xiamen speaks 'Min Nan Yu' which is part of our Hokkien language so it is easier for me to understand. Pictures shall tell the rest of the story....

On the way to hotel.....this is their 'huan dao lu' which is the inter-linked expressway.
We visited this 'Nan Pu Tuo Shi'.

The temple is just located opposite Xiamen University. The building with the orange roof is the uni...its looks near but not exactly near.

Wonder how they carve the words out of the stone. There are many many many stones with words on it around the temple.

All the girls outside the temple... Our weird expression is because the local photographer ask "Xi Gua Tian Bu Tian?" instead of the usual say Cheese etc. We were stunned.

One of the restaurants where we had our meals. It is supposed to be a Seafood restaurant but the only seafood we ever got was a fish and some prawns. And we had the same type of fish every meal for quite a number of days. That fish must be extinct by now.

While shopping we saw this three 'ang ku kueh' moulds on the street. I don't know the purpose of it though.

What do you do when you are tired from shopping and the bus has not arrived? You do as the Chinese...SQUAT along the roads.

Now...Miss Qinz is getting impatient waiting for this post so I have cut it into parts. Part 2 coming up will be about the visit to Xiamen University.
