I am bored. Not that I don't have things to do but it is one of those i-don't-feel-like-moving kind of
day night. I was surfing the net randomly and reading many many articles and blogs. Blogs of people that I know and people that I don't. Through regular reading it is as though I know them, coz I know what is happening in their life, or at least the bits that they blog about. I find it really fascinating coz sometimes I can really imagine myself in their situation and it is as though I lead multiple lives. It is quite impossible for anyone's life to be exactly the same as another person so I find this really interesting. It is the same concept for reading. Through my books (not Textbook obviously) I can imagine how people in other era and countries lived. But I don't like to read those difficult to understand kind of books, I like books that are for leisure reading and don't require me to analyze the situation before I can understand!

Getting old. Yes. You know you're getting old when people ask you how old are you and you nearly say 21 when in fact it should be 22. And when the thought of being 23 (according to Chinese calender) stuns you for a second. I don't feel like I'm very grown up... not like what an adult is suppose to feel like. But yea I'm gg to be 22 this year and right smack in the middle of exams.
And you know your are
getting old when you don't use those terribly short short-forms in your sms. I saw a kid (think lower sec) typing her sms and she uses alot of short form.. short until cannot short that kind and some are totally redundant. Like what is the use of typing 'kan' for 'can'?? It is also 3-letter, doesn't save you any wordcount and doesn't exactly allow ppl to read easily lo. At first I thought she using hanyu pin yin.

People always say to do things for passion and not money. Like to study for interest and not prospect. To work for passion and not for big paycheck. I totally understand where they come from but then again we have to be realistic. Unless you come from a relatively well-to-do family who can support you while you for things for interest and passion, most people don't have the luxury to do that. People generally will try to do something they like and pay reasonbly. Otherwise how to survive? Eat grass? How many successful people are doing things they like right from the start? I think alot of successful people work hard to achieve whatever they are doing and slowly began to like what they are doing as the years go by, esp if it makes you successful. And when they have the money, they might retire and doing things that they really like.
I hope that I can find something that I like after graduating. I can say I stumbled into my current area of study. I'm not the one who had the childhood dream of working with ships. In fact from young I wanted to join the police force. But then somehow I didn't end up joining la. Exact reason I also don't know. Maybe the passion is not strong enough? Maybe the timing is not right? Then I remembered wanted to take time off after getting my diploma before going uni. But then again I'm not brave enough to take this less travelled road. Throughout my secondary and poly years I had the notion of joining the navy and even saf. But in the end I still didn't. Now I saw a few ppl that I know on the street and a few are in police force (even those who NEVER cross your mind that will join) and some in the navy. Ya, I guess it is all about the decision made at the right timing.
But one thing I'm fairly sure is that I'll be working in the maritime industry after graduating, at least for the first 3 years after my erm.. bond..no..not exactly a bond but still some sort of a bond. I'm exploring the possibility of ship management/brokering. But then again, it might not be the case 2 yrs later. We shall see...

And before I forgot, let me just say that the president send me a sms that had me stunned for 5 seconds last week. I don't know if my blog is being read of what but the sms contain of a few words which I had used in my previously entry. I was at the interchange when I saw the msg and literally open my eyes wider and stared for 5 seconds. But no worries president, I'll still do what I've to do... I just need to grumble when things are not going well! But I'll get them back on track.. but not w/o a few more nightmares and sleepless nights. I knew it coz I was thinking of all the worst case scenario that can happen last year ard this time.
