Yep I'm spot on! There is another quiz added. So I've a grand total of 2 quizes, 3 assignments due in the next 2 weeks.
Ok that's not the main focus of tis entry. I was browsing through my friendster and I happen to click on my sec sch's alumini icon. Why I say happen to is because I've never really go n check it out ever since I've added it. And when I was reading through the testimonials written by fellow school mates, I realized that alot of us felt the same way for the sch. What we miss, what we hate and ultimately what memories we hold for our dear school Though it is not a fantastic top school but we (at least I) feel proud of it. It is the best sch in the neighbourhood back then, I don't know about now. Many would say sec school days hold the fondest memories for them.
Teachers that everyone miss includes our beloved first principal Mr Koh and our first discipline master Mr Razak. Mr Koh is one fine principal... more like a father figure.. no he is not that old.. only 40+ I believe... but the way he treats the students is as though he is teaching his own children. He is approachable.... students always love to talk to him when he is making his rounds around school. Now, how many of us dare to talk to the principal if we don't have to?? Mr Koh is very proud of the schoola as well as he always emphasize that "We are not a neighbourhood school".. so we have to be better than all schools!
Mr Razak is very very stern but reasonable discipline master. Nobody dares to talk when he speaks... everyone will listen. But when he is not lecturing the school during morning assembly, students will also talk and joke with him but with respect. I believe alot of students respect him. In fact he is the most respected teacher officer in npcc.
Our npcc unit was so proud when he was our OC coz he is afterall a discipline master that commands alot of respect from everyone. When he does trainings for us, we shudder but we were brimming with pride at the same time. He make us want to perform so well so that we can be the best uniform group in the sch. I believe back them npcc was very respected partly coz he is our OC as well. His favourite phrase always begin with "Idiots...... ......" during morning assembly coz he is v angry with what some students have done. Now imgine how pissed you'll get when your teacher now address the sch with "idiots....." How many teacher can do it yet still commnad respect? Not many I believe.
Mr Koh, Mr Razak and some other teachers always patrol the shopping mall near the school after school hours. They forbide students to loiter around there as there are many other students from other schools there and the 'ah bengs' and 'ah lians' will fight. So imagine your horror whenever you see them near there! hahha... they're so dedicated aren't they. We also cannot remove our nametags when we are in school and within 1m of the sch compound. We have to to have at least knee-length skirt, above eye-brown fringe, short fingernails etc etc. Imagine having weekly check during morning assembly and not forgetting those surprise spot checks. Whenever we're held back after assembly, we know the prefects are going round the classrooms to do spotchecks. They even go to the extend of getting the neighbourood barber to come to sch so that we can get our hair cut there and then. No excuses about no time! -_-" And the eye-brown plucking part is the best! Girls who pluck their eyebrown till it is so thin will get 'la bi xiao xing' eyebrowns in return drawn on with markers. I nearly fainted when I was being asked if I plucked my eyebrown!!! Of coz not... I naturally had sparse eyebrown. Luckily they believe me else i *faintz*.
Folkdance lesson is something everyone dreads. It is part of the school culture but I heard that the new principal has scrapped it recently. We had folkdance and social dance lessons as part of the curriculum. We were taught folkdances and some ballroom dances like waltz and cha-cha. But I don't think anyone remembered the moves...haha! We had to partner guys and some are really so irritating that they refuse to hold the girls hand and merely hold it over the girls' hand with gap in between. That prompted our instructor to ask "do u all have magnets in your palm? like that is hold hands?" WHhahaa....! That is so funni la...Our annual folkdance night is so fun...we celebrate racial harmony day that way every year. Every class will compete with one another... we'll drag teachers to join in the dance to get extra pts! It is hardwork training our teachers!! Hahah.. plus we get to dress up in our costumes that is cheap yet functional. We're not allowed to spend too much money. I remember for my first folkdance night I (rather girls in the class) wore a white dress from This Fashion. I wore it only once la! It look like a sleeping gown lor... haha.. Next is my Indian teacher's punjabi. I am like 1-third her size la.. I haf to pin safety pins to the pants to prevent it from dropping!!! Then my last costume is a rubbish bag skirt and a white top with scarf. The nicest costume I think. Forgot who made the skirt but it was quite nice!
So many memories! I've not been back to the sch for around 2 yrs I tink. It had changed quite a bit as I've seen on TV! Yes... my school compound is the one being used to shoot the "I not Stupid" TV series that is showing every sat 9pm! Hahah....
