Last week was a rather happening week... it left me with a swollen eye and alot of "eye-opening" situation. I shall back track t0 last Thursday.
Thursday was the Students' Union Investiture and my committee went down to help out. We were there at 6pm but there was a lecture going on till 6.30pm and the thing was scheduled to start ard 7.15pm! Once the lecture end we went int o set up the reception table n the plague table... emcess quickly ran through their scripts. Students, staff n guest started to arrive at ard 7.... there was a super long queue at the reception table coz everyone..yes EVERYONE wanted to sign the Guest Book... Normally only those big shot invited guest will sign it right. So I explained that there is no need to sign the guest book if you don't want to (I cannot say 'U cannot sign' right) and to proceed into mlt. BUT nobody wants to move....all wan to sign.. ok.. wadever.. juz let them sign. The the sky got darker n darker but the lights outside the LT did not come on.. some technical probs.. ai yo.. so haf to improvised by using HP give some light. As I stepped out of the door to try to get the students to move in.. a man told me 'The GOH is here.. where is the president?" Oh my goodness... I ran into MLT to get our dear president.. he was shocked tat the GOH was here already.... so am I. All the students are still not yet seated. Oh gosh... so pai seh... let the GOH wait... Some students especially the foreign students came late at ard 7 + after the event started.. but they were not there to support the event...they were there for the refreshments... The way they walk ard the food n stare at it... makes me wonder if it is a food fest or smthing...
Fastforward to Friday... had UOC meeting in the evening... all the GLs are guys... and majority of the Programmers are ladies... aahha... the direct opposite of last yr's committee. Discussion was quite fun... but we are lacking in manpower.. so if anyone interested in programmer, logistic or welfare can still join! Left hall for home ard 10pm.
Initially I planned to study for my accounting test on Saturday knowing that I will not have time to do it on Sunday. But plans are always plans.. I did study a few chapters... but for onli 2 hrs..den I went to watch TV and basically rot. Then went to have dinner at CWP... had Pastamania.... den waited for ms cheng to come. coz we are going back to school since we have to report at 5.30am at nanyang exective centre (NEC). When she reached the joke of the day happened. She was complaining that her whole body veri itchy...she was dying to go shopping. And since John Little was having their real hot sales... we went to take a look and Ms cheng bascially bought just about everything that the sale promoter show her.. ranging from nail polish to eye brown pencil to powder... While queuing up to pay... she open her bag and begin to dig for her wallet... after a few toss she said 'hey.. I tink I forgot to bring my wallet leh...' She continued to dig through her messy bag.. normally this 2nd try will be successful but not that night. She began to laugh and I had to pay for her first.. Suddenly become her 'sugar mummy'... I wonder wad she is going to do if she was alone... hahah!
Then we proceed to hall and went to watch TV... 'Nu Ren Wo Zui Da'... it was a funny show! Ended at 12.30am...n I told her to sleep coz we have to get up at 4.15am! Gosh... but we talked n talked n only went to dreamland at ard 2am.. Goodness me... which means we onli slept for 2 hrs. As usual I had to kick her out of bed.... Den we make our way to NEC... it was along walk ... everywhere is soooo quiet... which person in the right mind will be walking ard sch at 5am except us? Soon all 5 volunteers are outside NEC main lobby by 5.30am.. but we see no sign of the person in charge... thot she had overslept but actually we are at the wrong side of the building! ahhaa... its 5am! But then cannot fault us too.. we have not been dere n the wrong side looks like the main entrance leh... if not why did 5 person all go to that place?
We are bus-coordinators for the Run Round Singapore event... our first stop is at national stadium carpark. Basically our job is to go to the end point of each relay station and ferry those runners back to their starting pt. Each of us were given a walkie talkie... and are attached to a bus. So our lines goes mainly along the lines of
Me: "Bus 4 to Bus 2 Over"
Bus 2: "Bus 2 send over"
Me: "Bus 4 had juz unloaded at Marina Bay Mrt station, where is the next stop?"
Bus 2: "Science Centre Over"
And off we go to the next stop. One of our stops was at Pandan Reservoir... It started to rain heavily when the runners are back...so obviously they are wet. So you must be thinking I am dry since I stay in the bus. NO! I was wet too... very wet n DIRTY all thanks to those ultimate kiasu people! Most of the participants are uncles and aunties, Ah Ma and Ah Gong type. So I had to get down to tell them that they can board the bus if they are going to where the bus is heading la... But initially only abt 10 ppl onboard... Then one uncle start to make noise..not those uneducated uncle lor..is educated! He speaks english well.. He keep nagging n nagging...asking the bus to go... coz he is wet and if stay too long in the aircon bus he will catch a chill.. but HELLO not all the ppl are back yet.... n this 40 seater bus juz go off with 10 ppl... make no sense right!? I am also wet lor..pls remember..I told the bus driver to off the aircon but that uncle still continue to nag n nag.. so I juz ignored him... wait for more ppl to board first.. and while waiting..1 guy left the bus...for god know wad reason.. it is pouring so heavily lor. Den after a while he came back... Then the ultimate thing happen... One Ah Ma came and told me something
Ah Ma: "My goodie bag inside don't have bread"
I was thinking ok..no bread den no bread la..y u tell me?
Ah Ma: "There is bread there (pointing to a box out in the rain) but my son (yes the one who left the bus earlier on) dun dare to go n take. You go n take for me.
Goodness... Did I hear wrongly? This ah ma wans me to go out in the heavy rain to take a pathetic bread? Haiz.... no choice.. I have to take.. muz up keep the image of the school ma.. I can't possibly tell her " It rainging la.. u take bread ok". And before I left the bus she say "Take 2 hor" -_-""""" I was wet even though I had a big umbrella... When I return again.. I was holding 2 bread on 1 hand and trying to close the umbrella with the other hand.. but did the ah ma or anyone come n help me? No! They juz stared at me... goodnees! Then when I hand the bread to the ah ma.. there is not even a word of thanks... and then there is another ah ma.. who stood in the rain asking where is the goodie bag.. I had to tell her tat the goodie bag will be given out in the bus before she board the bus. Realli is my goodness! There actually are people who do anything juz to get the goodie bag. And the goodies bag is not those very good one lor..is those pathetic one... There are a few more incidents which shocked me... all because of the goodie bag.. one person even threaten to call Dr Su if he does not get it...yes..Dr Su is the ntu president. pengz! Call Dr Su juz b'coz of a goodie bag? I wonder is Dr Su will laugh or faint upon getting this call. I was very very tired by the time the event ended at ard 4pm... went back home...shower and slept till 8+pm before waking up to take dinner n go back to hall. I have yet to finish studying for accts test! Sharks!!! But my nose was giving me prob coz of the lack of sleep plus me getting wet in the rain twice in a day.... I went to bed again ard 10+pm... Decided to wake up at 7 am to study... but I did not study much... God Bless Me for the test!
