DILIGENT THINKING
Personal extracts from the ANSIR 3 Sides of You book
- There's a right way and a wrong way of doing everything, and they know the most
right way of all.
- They perform best when given their own realm of responsibility.
"Born competent and capable, Diligents harbour executive excellence and are the backbone of the business world. For these cerebral beings, reality conforms to the bounds and strictures of logic. Diligents play with ideas and make sport of problems. When Diligent starts a project, they do so from the premise of a clearly defined problem and set objective. They then gather all relevant information, organize a system for its solution, roll up their sleeves, and with notebook in one hand and pen in the other, begin working Step One of their plan. Once all criteria has been met, checked, and rechecked again, they use that as foundation for processing Step Two. Detail and data are their barometer of progress. By criteria of fact do they measure success. This sequential, methodical, and meticulous approach is repeated at each level of development and through to completion. Throughout, they cannot and will not be rushed. They have developed and perfected their purely logical, note-taking approach for a reason. Diligent hates being wrong." ...
[some excerpt from the more in-depth analysis]
Creativity is one area that is particularly stressful.
Reality for them is tangible, measurable, and based on proven practice or premise. Creativity, which has no tried and true historical point of reference, is perceived as pure risk by them. Like flight without wings; it does not compute. Risk-taking goes against the grain of their cautious check and re-check nature, and they tend to adopt the role of devil's advocate throughout the process. Diligent, not known for being adventurous or experimental, can fall into patterns of staid conservatism and often requires convincing before trying a new idea or taking another approach. Once they've gained confidence and met with success, Diligent proves most capable of being able to assess and appreciate the potential in new ideas and processes. However, expect to hear frequent mutterings and grumblings, meaning, "I'm from Missouri, (the show me state), so prove it."
There is just something cellular in Diligents that cannot accept randomness and chaos, much less ignore it. Something compels them to discover what patterns of predictability exist and to find the logical order they know must lie somewhere within. As they take things apart to understand how they work, they push to find the breaking points of ideas, concepts, and plans. Others would be satisfied with the what and where of limits; not Diligent. Their perfectionistic nature kicks in and questions, "where within known and recommended limits is optimum performance and efficiency had?" By dogged-determination does Diligent unravel random and tame chaos, before moving onto the next step or new challenge.
REALIST WORKING STYLE
Personal extracts from the ANSIR 3 Sides of You book
- They are leaders who get the job done, no matter what.
- They have intelligent hands.
"They're comfortable and capable in the physical world, their chief realm of functioning. Determined and tenacious doubt-removers, Realist breathes three-dimensional life into idea, concept, vision, and dream. There may be movers and shakers in the world, but Realists are the ones who position all that's moved and shaken and who then develops, dispatches, and disposes of all after. "What merit, what application, what authority, and when wanted?" is bottom-line Realist. On-the-fly revisions are their particular specialty. They excel in public service fields where physical aptitude, stamina, and team coordination are emphasized. Somewhat egotistical, Realist thrives on recognition and outshining others. They like having control over their work matters and outcomes. What they do and how much they've done are their measures of personal value." ...
SENTINEL EMOTING STYLE
Personal extracts from the ANSIR 3 Sides of You book
- No pain is greater for them than betrayal.
- They keep diaries or personal journals.
"A most common emoting style. Behind trademark reserve and alluring attractiveness is an individual who is hard to know and hard to love. Trust is the wall that divides. Whether Sentinel trust is an open or shut case, depends on how each has evolved and adjusted to three personality-typical determinants: language, loyalty, and new experiences. Characteristic of Sentinels is a crane-calm look of time suspended stillness or fixed concentration. None other portrays mind-at-work like them. Others are often surprised at the thoroughness and depth delivered when they do respond and reply. No thought, no word, no action is more painful to these sensitive beings than good-bye. So ingrained is their conviction that all good must come to an end, Sentinels may not risk "hello." If by nature they are skeptical and by choice, reticent, then one question begs answer. Is there a causal relationship between reticence and the fact that Sentinels suffer internal degenerative illnesses more often than others? What is eating Sentinel from the inside out?" ...

Trust, their greatest challenge
It is common for these individuals to stunt their own potential's growth by avoiding risk or change when logic invites or opportunity knocks. Too often they settle for the bird in the hand, rather than beating the bush for more challenging or fulfilling alternatives. Difficulty in trusting others can lead to loneliness. Sentinels know more about loneliness than most do.
If trusted others lie, cheat or betray them, their instinctive response is to immediately amputate relationsa situation that causes them great emotional distress and may take years for them to come to terms with. They would rather not trust others, not allow them in now, than suffer betrayal and loss later. The phrase, "I don't want to be owned," may have prevented many a Sentinel from making a marital commitment, but not from pursuing and having relationships. Why? Because their physical and attractiveness and their aloof reserve assures them of constant companionship, should that be their wish. Autonomy is necessary for them and they usually set the pace and tone in the relationship. However, as Dorothy discovered the kindly old man behind the Wizard's fearsome facade, behind the bark of independent righteous claim is a need that begs further investigation.
